Informationen in Deutsch zu Cochrane Public Health Europe (CPHE) 

Who are we?

Cochrane Public Health Europe (CPHE) is a satellite group of Cochrane Public Health (CPH) based at the University of Newcastle, Australia. CPHE was established in 2015 as a network of academic institutions in the three German-speaking European countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). The main aim of CPHE is to contribute to the work of CPH in Europe.

CPHE has a governance committee with a rotating coordination. For the period of 2022-2024 the Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology- BIPS (Department of Prevention and Evaluation; Bremen, Germany) and the University of Bremen (Institute for Public Health and Nursing Research; Bremen, Germany) are in charge of CPHE coordination. There are regular virtual meetings among all partner institutions.

As of 2023 CPHE is involved in discussions with CPH on the transition from a Cochrane Review Group to the new Thematic Group format.

Our current activities

Dissemination of CPH reviews

• via support of translations of plain language summaries to German
• via email-based newsletters (so-called Infomails- click here to sign up for our topic-specific Infomails)
• via meta-research studies on how CPH reviews are disseminated after publication

Priority setting for new CPH reviews

• via projects designed to define such priorities based on (1) stakeholder surveys and (2) meta-research studies of published Cochrane reviews to identify evidence gaps that could be addressed in future CPH reviews

Contribution to CPH reviews and methodological studies on Cochrane reviews

• as authors
• as editorial experts via methodological peer-review or assistance in search strategy development

Furthermore, CPHE members are engaged in multiple roles at Cochrane and broader joint activities to promote evidence-based public health in their countries and in Europe, e.g. by contributing to workshops, conferences, and joint publications.
